
Fort Gratiot Township Couple Return Home After Being Rescued From A Capsized Crusie Ship

A Fort Gratiot Township couple were among those passengers rescued from a cruise ship that capsized off the coast of Italy. Steve and Kathy Ledtke said it was complete chaos at times during the ship’s evacuation during an interview at the airport by WDIV-TV, Detroit. The Costa Concordia was set to sail on a seven day cruise when Friday evening, after about three hours into the cruise, when it struck a bed of rocks. Eleven people were killed with still some 20 passengers unaccounted for. There were over 4,200 aboard the ship at the time of the sinking. The Captain of the ship was arrested for possible wrongdoing including manslaughter, causing the wreck, and having left the ship before the all the passengers were off. The Ledtkes landed in Detroit yesterday and are back in Fort Gratiot today.
