Adair Seeks Election As St. Clair County Judge In 2012
January 18th, 2012
Port Huron attorney John D. Adair today announced his intention to seek election as St. Clair County Circuit Judge. Current Circuit Judge James P. Adair must retire due to constitutional age limits. After 14 years of service as an attorney, Adair says that he desires to further his commitment to community service as Circuit Judge. Adair says, “For many years, I have served our community in many volunteer roles. Serving as a circuit judge would allow me the opportunity to serve our community in another way: By protecting the rule of law and preserving the integrity of justice. I believe that I have the right mix of balanced legal experience with a commitment to community service.” Speaking of the importance of electing highly qualified judges, Adair said, “A circuit judge provides a vital role in our community. He or she presides over a forum where people in civil cases have the opportunity to have their cases heard, where the accused in criminal cases are given fair and just access to the law, where convicted persons are punished appropriately, and where families, especially children of broken marriages, are given compassion and understanding.” Adair added: “I believe that I have the right combination of professional experience, the judicial temperament, and the commitment to our community to provide a high standard of justice to those who appear in court.” Born in Port Huron, Adair graduated from Port Huron Northern High School and attended St. Clair County Community College (SC4). He graduated from Michigan State University, where he was a member of the Student Assembly and worked as page in the Michigan House of Representatives. Adair’s law degree is from Wayne State University, where he was a member of and editor for the Wayne Law Review, served as an intern for the Michigan Supreme Court, and served as a student attorney for the Free Legal Aid Clinic in Detroit. He returned to practice law in his hometown for the law firm now called Hill Devendorf, P.C. Adair has significant experience in broad areas of the law, including commercial transactions, commercial litigation, real estate, criminal law, family law, administrative law, estate planning, elder law, business planning, banking, guardianships and conservatorships, consumer law, municipal law, tax law, and non-profits. Adair chairs the Board of Trustees for St. Clair County Community College. He was appointed to the board in 2007 to fill a vacancy and was retained by election in 2008. Adair resides in Fort Gratiot with his wife Natalie and their children, Madison, age 10, and Benjamin, age 8. For more information log on to www.adair2012.com
