United Way of St. Clair County Exceeds Campaign Goal
January 30th, 2012
More than 160 people gathered at the Thomas Edison Inn to celebrate the results of the 2011 United Way Annual Giving Campaign for St. Clair County. For the first time in several years, the Campaign exceeded its goal of $1,450,000. Campaign Chairman Tim Lubbers, Director of Marketing and External Affairs for SEMCO Energy Gas Company in Port Huron, thanked Campaign volunteers and donors for their hard work and for the contributions by area companies and individuals for this Campaign. The evening included a tribute to Richard Cummings who was honored for his many years of service to the United Way of St. Clair County and the community. Cummings began working with the United Way as a volunteer over 40 years ago. Throughout a long professional career with Organized Labor, Cummings served on the United Way of St. Clair County Board of Directors as Labor Representative, Executive Committee Member, Board President in 1979 and 1995 and Campaign Chair in 1980. He joined the professional staff of United Way of Michigan as a State Labor Liaison in 1998 and left that position to become the Campaign Director of United Way of St. Clair County in 2000.
