Jail And Bail Successful For The 56th Year
February 6th, 2012
The 56th annual Jail and Bail — one of the biggest fundraisers for the Port Huron March of Dimes and now a nationwide event that originated right here in St. Clair County, brought in $174,600 Saturday, and organizers say they expect to see another $5,000 to $6,000 come in to the organization over the next couple of weeks. Last year’s event raised $188,000. About 130 people, which included prisoners and teams, along with some 175 other volunteers worked to put on the event that ran 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Masonic Center, 927 Sixth St. in Port Huron this past Saturday. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies, including preventing birth defects and premature birth.
