Two Vehicle Accident Causes Three To Be Hospitalized
February 8th, 2012
A two-vehicle accident that occurred yesterday at about 4 p.m. sent a 42-year old Port Huron woman to a University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor for serious internal injuries. It is reported that the woman was driving east on Beard Street when she ran the stop sign at the intersection – a pickup truck heading south on 16th Street then hit the woman’s van. Port Huron firefighters had to cut the driver’s door off the van to get the woman out of the vehicle. The passenger of the van, a 29-year-old Detroit woman, was treated for minor injuries at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron and released last evening. The driver of the pickup, a 52-year-old Port Huron man ran away from the accident, and the truck’s passenger, a 47-year-old Port Huron man, is hospitalized with a broken neck. Police have spoken with the driver of the pickup but it has not been released as to why he left the scene. The incident is currently under investigation to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors.
