Federal Financial Aid Form Assistance At College Goal Sunday
February 8th, 2012

Students and parents who need help filling out their federal financial aid forms can come to College Goal Sunday  from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron.  The workshop will be in Room 150 of the college’s Citizens First Michigan Technical Education Center, corner of Erie Street and Glenwood Avenue.  College Goal Sunday features financial aid advisors available to help students and parents fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students and parents coming to the free event are asked to bring their completed 2011 tax forms (or W2s and 1099s).    The College Goal Sunday program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lilly Endowment Inc. and with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education.  College Goal Sunday began in 1989 in Indiana and since has grown into a national event. This year, College Goal Sunday events are planned in 40 states and Washington, D.C. The program is managed by the YMCA of the USA. This is SC4’s seventh year participating.  In Michigan, this year’s event is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Department of Education, Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and EduGuide. Additional support is provided by the DTE Energy Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, Lumina Foundation for Education, Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and USA Funds.  Students attending will have a chance at winning one of three scholarships being offered statewide by College Goal Sunday organizers.
