Additional Townships Join In Asking For A Vote For Funding A Convention Center
February 10th, 2012

Jeff Bohm

Port Huron, Fort Gratiot, Casco, Ira and Riley Townships have all voted unanimously with Wales voting 4-1 and Clyde Township 5-2 to send a letter to the St. Clair County Commissioners encouraging commissioners to place the convention center bond proposal on the ballot.   This would give the tax payers a voice in deciding whether or not the voters should participate in the funding of a new convention center in Port Huron.  CLAY Township looked at the issue and did not pass it.  However, with the growing number of townships that are asking for a vote WGRT asked Commission Chair Jeff Bohm,  how it affected his thinking on a county funded convention center.   Bohm told WGRT that he hopes to present some workshops  to the townships and interested citizens and walk them through the project from “A” to “Z” and then he feels they will be able to move forward.
