
Self-Defense Course Being Offered For Women

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a self-defense course for women later this month. The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Systems course will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Port Huron Township Office, located at 1170 Michigan Road. The course is designed to provide women with simple, easy to remember ways to prevent abduction and rape. It is a nationally recognized basic self-defense course that has trained over 300-thousand women since 1989. The course is open to women only. The certified instructors conducting the course are Corrections Deputy Patti Muxlow and Deputy Gary Antilla. Registration for the training is being held at the Sheriff’s Office. Anyone interested can sign up Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Registration is limited to 20 women per session, with a non-refundable fee of $25, to be paid at signup. Once the initial fee is paid, participants are allowed to attend future training free of charge at sites across North America. The deadline for registration is February 22nd.
