
Traffic Stop Nets Arrest

A traffic stop for defective equipment ended with a warrant arrest for the driver and a drug arrest for the passenger late Sunday night. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the stop was made about 11 o’clock Sunday night on Dove Road at 24th Street. In the course of investigation following the stop, it was discovered the… driver, 22 year old Tara Freels of Port Huron, had a felony warrant for narcotics from Macomb County. The passenger of the vehicle, 22 year old Jermaine Hubbard of Detroit, consented to a search of his body after stating he had nothing illegal with him. The search found that he had 19 individually wrapped crack cocaine rocks weighing a total of nearly 8 grams and 8 packaged bundles of heroin, weighing 4 grams. Both were arrested and transported to the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center. Port Huron Police Department assisted in the investigation following the traffic stop.
Freels was turned over to Macomb County on their warrant. Hubbard was arraigned in 72nd District Court and charged with two counts of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance less than 50 grams. He has since been released from the IDC after posting a $25-thousand cash/surety bond.
