March 21st, 2012
Police continue investigation into what appears to be a cyber fraud case in which a large amount of money was removed from Immanuel Lutheran Church of St. Clair’s bank account. Seaway Community Bank reported to the St. Clair Police Department regarding a belief that someone had hacked into a bank account held by the church at, 415 North Ninth St. in St. Clair. The Rev. Alan Schwieger, pastor of the church, told WGRT there is an investigation, and he couldn’t comment on the situation, however, he was told by authorities that the investigation should be complete by the first of next week. While officials at the bank, and the church would not comment on the amount of money involved, sources have told WGRT that they believe the amount may have been around $100,000.
