The Port Huron Board of Education voted to renew the partnership with the International Center for Leadership in Education.  The ICLE, an education consulting firm based in Rexford, N.Y., provides a program featuring professional development, research-based test practices, technical assistance and leadership development.  Superintendent H. Ronald Wollen stated he was asking for approval because he “is pleased with the progress the district has made with the firm”.  Board members also voted on a resolution that amends the bylaws to change term lengths to six years in order to follow the law signed by Gov. Rick Snyder in November to force school boards to alter their terms so that a majority of the board will not be elected at one time.  Also approved was the go-ahead for the district to consider becoming the authorizing agency for the St. Clair County Intervention Academy.  The specialized education program provides educational and related services to children and youth through age 19 who are residing in the county Intervention Center. The Regional Educational Service Agency has been serving as the academy’s chartering agency since 2004.  Wollen said he hopes to make a recommendation to the board in May.
