Still Some Without Power
April 17th, 2012

About 1,800 DTE Energy Blue Water Area customers remain without power this morning after high winds blew through the area for some 10 hours.  At one point there was a high of some 80,000 customers without power in the DTE service area due to those high winds.  Downed trees, limbs and power lines caused road closures – some damage to homes and vehicles- all caused by winds  gusting to 55 miles per hour.  One death has been reported due to a car being hit by a falling tree.  The accident occurred about 2:50 p.m. Monday in Van Buren County’s Bloomingdale Township, 40 miles south-southwest of Grand Rapids.  The woman was identified as 69-year-old Marilyn Remington of Bloomingdale.
