Yesterday voters headed to the polls to vote on a tax renewal in Port Huron and Fort Gratiot for a four-year millage for the Blue Water Area Transit services which expires in both municipalities this year. The ballot question for Port Huron and Fort Gratiot elections asked voters to consider renewing the four-year tax that would expire in 2016. Voters turn-out was light, and the majority of those voting voted in favor of the renewal in both Port Huron and Fort Gratiot. In Port Huron, 75.52% of voters supported the renewal and 1,288 people turned out to vote. In Fort Gratiot, 75.18% of voters supported the renewal and 689 people cast their ballots. Also on the ballot in the Memphis area: Memphis Community Schools was seeking approval of a $950,000 bond to pay for three buses and technology which passed 366 to 190. Marysville Community Schools was seeking the renewal of 18-mill non-homestead property tax, which also passed. 965 people voted and of those, 76.06% supported renewing the millage. Anchor Bay Schools Millage proposal also passed, 1850 to 1425.
