WGRT talked yesterday with John Wheeler of Orion Construction, the company planning to remodel the Thomas Edison Inn,  who confirmed that the convention center project is on schedule.  The financing is completed, and they expect to begin construction mid-to late June.  WGRT also confirmed this in a conversation with Port Huron attorney Gary Fletcher, who confirmed that the project is nearing completion with some paperwork yet to be completed.  Mr. Wheeler stated he appreciates the friendliness of the community and is looking forward to the work ahead.
