Arenac County Sheriff Department

According to news reports, authorities say a single-engine plane crashed in Lake Huron off Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula, injuring the 41-year-old pilot.  Michael Garner of Saginaw was the only person aboard the plane when it went down about 9:47 a.m. Sunday. He was being treated yesterday at Standish St. Mary’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff department reported in a statement that the plane took off from James Clements Municipal Airport in Bay City and went down about 100 yards from shore in Whitney Township, about 30 miles north-northeast of Bay City.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
